Coverage offered under the TRCC Addendum provides protection against defects in workmanship or materials for 1 year, selected portions of mechanical systems for 2 years and major structural components for 10 years. Clearly written warranty standards track those established by the TRCC. HOME guarantees the builder's performance of TRCC standards in the first 2 years in the event the builder is bankrupt or has gone out of business and cannot be found. The builder transfers all liability for major structural components in years 3 through 10 to HOME. HOME offers mediation to builders to assist in resolving disputes on difficult customer service issues in years 1 and 2. Additionally, this coverage has been approved by HUD for FHA financed mortgages.
